Lagorent Rent a Car have installed the required Electronic Receivers in all of their fleet. This means that our clients can use the A22 motorway, all other Portuguese motorways and toll bridges. The receivers record their motorway use and calculate the charges accordingly. Lagorent Rent a Car will deduct the toll use charges from a specified credit card 48 hours after the return of the hire vehicle. Lagorent will forward a detailed receipt for your records. No wonder so few people are now using this fine road - it is almost impossible for visiting drivers and rental drivers and plenty more to be able to conveniently pay the toll charges. The photo number plate catcher is so slow, you can be in and out of the Algarve before the records have caught up. Another waste of public money I think. And who paid for the A22 in the first place? As the signs proudly displayed when it was being built - it was paid for by Europe, not just Portugal. If there is any revenue from the tolls a large part of it should be paid back to the EC. SCUT ought to see it only works if there are pay booths - and this could employ a few Portugese who need the work.
